On this day in 1942 Rogers Hornsby was elected to the Hall of Fame he’e also the author of a great baseball quote

People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Hideki Matsui—One-of-a-Kind.

A class act! When his time comes for HOF consideration hope the writer do the right thing…. Vote him in …..

The Cleveland Indians designated Johnny Damon for assignment today. At this stage of his career I doubt strongly that another team will be picking him up for any long-term service. So the likelihood of reaching 3000 hits is unlikely.

If this is truly the end of his brilliant career, over the next five years there will be lots of discussions on whether Johnny Damon belongs in the Hall of Fame?

I’ve attached links to Johnny Damon’s and Vada Pinson’s Baseball Reference pages. There careers are quite similar, Pinson didn’t get in. So I’m asking you what’s your opinion is Johnny Damon a hall of famer and if so what about Vada Pinson?

Explaining Cliff Lee August trade waivers

When the Yankees made their pitch for him he turned them down. Main reason was his wife didn’t like the Yankee fans and how they treated  her or something along that line. I’ve had Yankee tickets for 35 years the  players wives are located in a very pricey location with security all around. In fact the Yankees in every section have security if you’re unhappy with a fans behavior they are on it in minutes.  Never bought into her story.

Now the Phillies are hoping someone will pick-up his contract. I glad my team was rejected by him and I hope they do not pick-him-up of the waiver wire.

On this day in 1978 Billy Martin resigned as Yankee manager and was replaced by Bob Lemon. The Bronx Bombers will win a World Championship with their new skipper this season.

Today in 1925, Lou Gehrig’s four-run home run is the difference in the Yankees’ 11-7 victory over the Senators. The New York first baseman’s bases-full homer is the first of a record 23 grand slams he will hit during his 17-year career in the Bronx.

Arizona Diamondbacks’ Jason Kubel continues his ‘impressive’ romp.

Keeping up with news from around MLB. Many teams just don’t get the courage and exposure. Starting today I’ll be bring  local sports coverage of all MLB  teams daily …

NBA thinking of putting small ads on jerseys next season! I know it’s all about the money but hey fans this will not keep the price of a ticket from rising. If when MLB gets around to doing this I hope my NY Yankees say NO! I remember watching them open in Japan a few years ago (Another bad Idea driven by money) and seeing ads on their helmets. What an awful look…

Since I’m on a rant, what’s with these NHL 14 year contacts? Someone please explain?
