Busch Memorial Stadium 1973
On May 12, 1966, four days after the final baseball game played at Sportsman’s Park, Busch Memorial Stadium opened with the St. Louis Cardinals winning 4 -3 in 12 innings over the Atlanta Braves. In 1970 the grass field was replaced with Astro Turf to make the conversion from baseball to football easier.

In 1970 the grass field was replaced with Astro Turf to make the conversion from baseball to football easier.

In 1973 on our first road trip, we stopped in St Louis for two days. Other than the ballparks in New York City Busch Memorial Stadium was the first ballpark I visited. The Cardinals were playing out of town and on our visit to the stadium, we visited the museum that also allowed you access to the stadium. As it turned out we were the only people in the ballpark. These are the only three images from that day. A few rolls of film from that trip were damaged in processing and one of rolls was of are time in St Louis….
